Shockingly great product for the price! The 4 receivers can either take batteries or plug into a USB cord, which is super convenient. The alarm itself can be set to a range of volume levels and, to my kids’ delight, can play 38 different tunes. (I prefer the simple chime and am including a video of that sound here.) The sensors are sensitive to motion without being overly so. As a single mom, these now bring me great peace of mind to have them focused on my home entrances and outside my children’s rooms so I’ll be alerted to any movement. They were very easy to install with the included hardware.

Original Review – 10/7/19 (See below for updated review)I got my new Ring security system yesterday and installed the panel, door sensor, and motion sensor yesterday. I have had a security system with a major national monitoring company for nearly six years. I am not new to this. I got the new Ring system to replace the current system I have due to the price of the monitoring. I like the idea of having $10 a month for all of my cameras and security system combined. By switching, I am able to save $55 a month by cancelling my previous monitoring from the companies that did so for my security system and cameras. The ring system itself is pretty basic. There aren't really bells and whistles. I am going from a fancy touchscreen panel that can control my thermostat and do a lot of other things to a panel that doesn't have a screen at all. I am aware of the change and am more than accepting of it for the monthly savings.I do hope that Ring will eventually come out with a nicer panel that can be added to the system. Glass break sensors would also be nice to have with the Ring system.I do like the new Ring system but it does have some things you need to be aware of that could be deal breakers for you.First, people have complained about the larger size of the door sensors and magnets. I didn't really think this was a problem until I tried to install them on my windows. The size of the sensor itself isn't really the issue. Its the size of the magnet. IF YOU HAVE DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS, LISTEN UP!!! If you aren't sure what a double hung window is, it is a window in which both the top and bottom panes can be opened. You can slide the top pane down or the bottom pane up independently of each other. Why is this a problem? If you do not modify the magnets for the sensors, you will need to buy two sensors for each window that you have. With my last security system, the sensor was mounted to the bottom pane and the magnet was mounted to glass on the top pane. This was done so that if either pane was moved, the sensor would trip. With the Ring window sensors, the magnet is too big to place on the glass so that the bottom panel can be moved. If you try to open the bottom panel, the window will hit the magnet and knock it off, causing it to sit on the panel in front of the sensor and not trip it. Not all windows are made the same, so this may not be the case for you, but it is worth considering. The only way I have found to get around this is to order two sensors per window or to remove the magnet from the casing and attach it to the glass. The second option doesn't look aesthetically pleasing at all. If I figure out another way, I will update this review.Update: I used the magnets from my previous security system. If you’re truly concerned about your security, and you have double hung windows, you’ll need to either order two sensors per window or find a smaller magnet to use.The second issue I have for the system is that there is no quick exit feature. For the entire six years that I've had a security system, I have been used to being able to press a button that will give me one minute to quietly exit the house. This is important when I am leaving for work a few hours before my family wakes up for their day. The Ring system doesn't have this feature at all. When the system is armed, it has to be disarmed (which it announces) and rearmed before exiting with a delay that can be set up with your phone (it will announce this as well and will make a sound while it counts down) or can be armed from your phone after you leave (again, it will announce this with the countdown sound). You either have to chose if you want the system to count down or not. Not counting down will immediately arm it and you will have to arm from your phone if you leave and arm it on the "Home" setting while others are still there. You can adjust the sound that is emitted from the panel so that it isn't loud, but it will also make your door and window chimes use the same volume all of the time. If you have your system armed while you’re home, and the volume is down, you might not hear the system telling you that it needs to be disarmed if you forget and open a door. There is no in-between here. If you have to leave while others are still sleeping, this may be a problem for you.One major issue that I have is that I don't believe there is a duress code for this system. A duress code will disarm the system but also secretly send a notification that there is a problem to the monitoring company, who will send the police. The Ring system has a way of doing this that would make it obvious to an intruder that you're letting the police know there is a problem. The panel has two buttons with red dots on them. By pressing both buttons at the same time, the system will notify the Ring monitoring center that you need assistance. The problem is that the intruder will definitely see you do this instead of entering your code to disarm the panel. I can see where this may upset the intruder. I feel like Ring needs to step up and add a duress code feature so that you can be discreet about needing help. The last thing I have an issue with is that you must enter your passcode not only when you disarm the system but also when you want to arm it. I think that is a little excessive. I think that the passcode should required only for disarming. The positive things about the system are that it is inexpensive to purchase and monitor. I just don't know yet if the pros outweigh the cons.I will update this review after using it for a month or so.Updated Review (1/5/19)I wanted to preface this updated review with the following information. I am updating this review because Ring's customer service team reached out to me about my one star review. While they didn't ask me to change my review, they did ask if there was anything they could do to make my experience better. Since I have had a few months with this system, I feel like it deserves an update.I am leaving my original review because I feel like it still applies, since nothing has really changed as far as those issues go.You can now arm and disarm the system with Alexa. This is very convenient because it allows you to say "Alexa, arm the system" and it will immediately do so without a passcode. Entering the passcode on the panel every time you want to arm the system is still there and still excessive, in my opinion. You can also say "Alexa, disarm the system". Alexa will then ask you for your verbal passcode (you can set this up in the Alexa app on your phone or tablet) and she will then disarm the system for you. This is extremely convenient when you first enter your home with an arm full of groceries or whatever. To be able to walk in and disarm with your voice instead of having to put everything down and walk to the panel is the only reason my review is getting two stars instead of one. Aside from that, there haven't really been any other changes to warrant a better review from me.The customer service rep told me that there is also Z-Wave Lock that has been implemented, but I don't know what that is. I can't find anything about it on the app. I was also told that they will be somehow integrating the Ring Stick Up Cam into the Ring Alarm system, but I am not sure how or when.I was informed by the customer service rep that a dome siren, glass break sensor, "smoke listener" and flood and freeze detector are also being released. I was told that they are reviewing the addition of the quick/silent exit feature and duress code. I was also told that they are planning to redesign the contact sensors to be slimmer, but they cannot tell me when that will be done. If and when those things are changed, my review will definitely go to a 4-5 star review.I really do like the system. I like the price point of the monitoring of the system, I just feel like there are a few very important things that hold it back.I guess the takeaway from my review should be this:Its a really good system for a great price, but it is kind of half baked. It all depends on what is important to you. I have no time frame of when the things they told me are being released. If they are going to be released in the next few months, I would say wait. If its a year down the road, I would say get the system but be prepared to possibly have to buy extra components if you want to update the system to be on par with some of the bigger companies' systems. It's really just a toss up for what you think is important to you.

Very, very impressed!!! I have other D battery operated motion lights at my residence, but I decided to go with these based on reviews here, as I'm tired of shelling out 15 to 20 bucks on D batteries every few months. I placed these 4 Baxia Solar lights on all sides of my house in areas that I've found could use some light to enter gates late at night – they have exceeded my expectations!!! These are well worth the money, as the light they produce is not only bright, but stays on for about a minute or more. Exactly, what I needed. I will buy again!

I purchased 4 of these for use in my garage and walk-in closets. The first install was in the garage. We frequently enter and leave the garage for minutes at a time in order to dispose of recyclables. It would be very convenient to have a light activated by motion when we enter and to automatically shut off after a minute or two once we leave. This light got left on a lot of the time. The install was simple for me as an engineer. The programming of the light switch was pretty simple too. It seemed to work at the onset after the install. But the next day I noticed the light would already be on when entering the garage. I thought something may be triggering the motion sensor so I began troubleshooting. It was then I noticed the switch wasn't working at all. In fact once it was turned on manually or with motion it would not turn off. I tried everything. It seems to be a relatively cheaply made switch. So I decided to return it and replace it with a better quality product.PLEASE NOTE: THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RETURNABLE. AS A PRIME MEMBER AMAZON WAS COURTEOUS ENOUGH TO REFUND MY PURCHASE BUT FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT PRIME MEMBERS BEWARE. THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OF THIS PRODUCT.

I have purchased 9 of these motion detectors over the last year for use in my home security system. Based on my personal experience and online research I've done, these are the best Zwave plus motion detectors available in this price range that will interface with Smartthings. However, there is a dark lining around this silver cloud. My experience has been that a higher than normal percentage of these units run "hot"…out of the 9 units I purchased 2 of them ran hot making them susceptible to false alarms and not suitable for use in my security system. In one case I swapped a "hot" sensor (one that was creating frequent false alarms) with one of my other identical sensors and my false alarms stopped immediately. I know it is possible to reduce the sensitivity on these units and I honestly didn't test that option because I have a problem with reducing the sensitivity of my security system because of what appears to be poor calibration of the sensor…and when other identical units work just fine. Lastly, good luck on getting any kind of warranty service if you have a faulty sensor. I have tried for several weeks to contact them myself and through Amazon as well and neither of us can find any contact information for the manufacturer. There is no information on obtaining warranty service in their manual either. So my advice is that while these are worth purchasing because the unit it is probably the best one on the market and the price is good, be aware that a higher than normal percentage of them run "hot" and might make them unsatisfactory for security system use due to false alarms. Also if you have to replace one I don't give you good odds on going through their warranty. I hope you have better luck than me but most likely you'll be eating the cost, since their warranty service is nowhere to be found.

I upgraded from the generation 2 SmartThings hub (Ethernet-only) and so far this new gen 3 hub works great, love the fact that it's Wi-Fi, I can now place the hub in a more central location. However, there are some caveats. First, I had to use the new SmartThings app to add this hub to my account. The new SmartThings app is pretty, but it lacks a lot of the functionality of the older SmartThings Classic app. For example, I'm not able to add devices that use my custom device handlers in the new app. And some of the custom automations are not available. So, once I got the new hub added to my account using the new app, I uninstalled it and reinstalled the classic app. From the classic app, I was able to set up everything just fine, including my Aeotec doorbell which uses a custom device handler. Once I had everything set up to my liking, I uninstalled the classic app and reinstalled the new app. Everything seems to be working now, except my Aeotec doorbell shows as "Checking status…" all the time (but the doorbell still works). It sounds like the new SmartThings app is still a work-in-progress, I hope they eventually get it updated to the same functionality as the classic app.

I purchased 2 of these units to use in conjuction with my Samsung Smart Hub. The pairing process was very easy and took less than a minute to complete. You will want to sign into your hub and update the Device Handler to take full advantage. The response time from the sensor unit to the hub is extremely quick….. Less than 1 second in most cases. After I received the unit the seller followed up via Email to ask for feedback on my satisfaction. I initially found that the coverage area was as I had expected so I mentioned that in my reply. After a bit of troubleshooting the seller replied back offering to send me a Wall Unit to test out instead. The Wall unit worked great so he offered to replace both ceiling Sensors that I had purchased with the wall unit model at no additional cost for the units or for shipping. Needless to say if you aren't happy for any reason, this seller has outstanding customer service and you will be taken care of. This product does work great, and I ended up using it in a different application scenario; the wall sensor was better for the application I was initially working on. So….. If you have any doubt, fear no more….. Buy this product with confidence that it works great and you will also be backed by the seller for any reason if you are unsatisfied.

Save yourself the frustration and read the install directions. The little gear in the center needs to be flipped over if your changing the direction of the door. I needed the little white bushing to take care of most of the wiggle room in the device. It is still not tight, but after you get it set up, it's not an issue that it's not fitting snug on the hinge pin.SIZE: In my opinion, LARGE is good for some things, and not for others. If you are going to use this where it's visible and want to try attempt be transparent, DON'T BUY THIS ONE. I have mine in the laundry room since my family and myself can never seem to turn that light off when leaving the room, so it's a non issue. It's behind the door and out of sight. This is not a small unitSetup: was simple. I paired it to smart things. It paired right up with no problems. Now it turns the light on when the door is opened and off when it's closed, so it seems fairly responsive. It took a little bit to get it set to where I wanted it because you can set how far open or closed you want your trigger on this. I don't have another use for this type of sensor due to the size, but I can see it being used in areas that are less visible.

These motion sensors work well. Too well! They trigger on EVERYTHING like humming birds and plant leaves blowing in the wind and the neighbor's cat. The false alarms are so frequent that everybody gets fed up with it and just turns it off. Some solutions..Mailbox alert:I wanted to know when the mail arrives because the mailbox is up at the road and I can't hear the mailman drive up. Pointing the motion sensor at the mailbox didn't work because every car that drives past the mailbox set off the alert. Also, the plants moving next to the box tripped it too. So, instead of trying to detect the arrival of the mail man I put the motion sensor inside the mailbox at the back facing to the front. When the mailbox is opened the alert goes off in the house. Works great!Garage burglar alarm:Due to never-ending false alarms when the sensor is mounted outside the garage, instead I mounted the sensor inside the garage. Detection of an intruder works fine like that and there are no cats or birds or rabbits triggering it any more. The signal couldn't reach the house though because of the metal garage walls it has to go through (unless the garage door is open). To fix that I un-soldered the antenna coil from inside the sender and extended it on the end of a 6 inch piece of wire and stuck the wire and coil through a tiny hole in the garage wall and let it hang outside the garage. Now it works! Doing that didn't seem to de-tune the transmitter like I had feared because the range seems to be the same as before.Unless you are OK with having MANY false triggers all day and night you have to put the motion sensors in places where there is no motion of any kind except for the type of motion that you WANT to detect. If you put the sensors in a place where you get a lot of false triggers you will soon be ignoring the alerts and soon after that you will be turning the receivers off. Being awaken in the middle of the night by an animal walking in front of your driveway sensor will get old real fast! I know!

Ordered on 3rd……….shipped on 5th and I received it on Sunday the 6th of October. That's what I call great free shipping!I've installed, set and adjusted over 100 of these lights in the past and I have to say this light has the most settings and versatility of any of them for a very reasonable price. I've paid three times the price and ended up with sensor lights that just did not perform as advertised! With a 5 year unlimited Warranty (which I've never seen on a security light) you have nothing to loose!I ordered this for personal use on my patio and it is perfect for the area. I also have a 50' sidewalk leading down the side of the house from the patio and going around the corner. When I come back around that corner the sensor automatically triggers the light and that's at 50'! I've installed many of these and adjusted the sensors so compared to others this was pretty simple and did not take me that long. If you are not familiar with adjusting sensors to trigger at a distance this far away it may take some time and patience, however the sensor is great! If installed as/per the instructions this light is waterproof – another great feature as I have lost many to water damage! All in all I'm looking forward to many years of reliable service from this light and will purchase more as I have my entire house and area surrounded by security lights that are not as well made and have been acting like they are on their last legs!

I've had this a month now, mounted the other piece above our walk-out basement door. So far it does a good job alerting me when door is opened, as the motion sensor works really good. The installation was super easy. You just need to plug-in the receiver, and then turn on the motion sensor. That's it!
